inside the kiln

2 11 2008

After our usual first-Sunday-of-the-month breakfast, we re-arranged and re-packed the greenwares and bisque pieces in the dragon kiln. There was a lively discussion inside the dragon kiln about how to direct the fire to achieve the desirable firing result. Todd who had just returned from his recent Anagama experience during a 2-month artist residency in a pottery town near Nagoya in Japan, provided us with very useful technical tips. He was very generous in sharing what he had learnt from the programme. Kuo Wee from Toa Payoh West CC also joined us for the discussion. We took a group picture inside the kiln during the discussion. The other two pictures illustrate the packing done on 27 Oct and how it looked today on 2 Nov. Who says packing is easy?
